FDA AND GSA COLLABORATE TO SPEED ACCESS TO EFFECTIVE FACE MASKS.

FDA AND GSA COLLABORATE TO SPEED ACCESS TO EFFECTIVE FACE MASKS.

The Medical Devices Unit of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Textiles Department of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA)are collaborating to ensure that all face masks that are locally produced in Ghana are fit for use and comparable to the highest international requirements.

To this end, the two agencies have come up with Public Available Specifications (PAS) for what constitutes effective face masks and are also making available all international standards for personal protective equipment free of charge online.

 Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has the responsibility and mandate to ensure that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and medicines for preventing the spread of the Coronavirus meet the required standards.

In order to avoid the shortage of face masks on the market, and in direct response to the call by the Government for the local production of face masks, the Medical Devices Unit (MDU) of the Laboratory Services Department (LSD) of the FDA and the Textiles Department of the GSA worked with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Trade and Industry to come up with attainable standards for use by local manufacturers to facilitate production, and eventually, the approval of locally-manufactured face marks.

In response to shortage of face masks globally, several countries, including; the US, have encouraged citizens to use home-made face masks. However, no stringent requirements were stated making it difficult to regulate.

The FDA therefore undertook assessment of the available local materials to determine the optimum products that will offer effective protection in Ghana.

Through this, it was noted that the Paper-Paper-Paper (three layers) combination is not suitable and, therefore, not recommended for use in the manufacture of nose masks for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, a Calico-Paper-Calico (three layers); a Calico-Stiff (Hard/Medium)-Calico (three layers) combination; and the Calico-Calico-Calico (three layers)combination are suitable for the production of local face masks that can be used to assist in slowing down the spread of the Coronavirus in Ghana.

The FDA is therefore calling on all local commercial manufacturers of face masks to contact the FDA and/or the GSA for guidance and assistance.

This is because the FDA has a mandate to ensure that all medical devices, including; face masks, sold to the public provided the expected benefits to be derived from the use of these nose masks including; safety, quality, and good performance.

As part of its routine regulatory mandate, the FDA, through its market surveillance activities, would monitor the performance of the face masks to ensure that users derived the maximum benefits.

Any substandard ones found on the market would be removed and the manufacturers and other culprits would be appropriately dealt with under the provisions of the law.

DODOWA MARKET WOMEN STRANDED

 The District Chief Executive Officer of Shai Osudoku, Mr. Daniel Akuffo to shut down Dodowa Market with only one (1) day  notice. These information   left the market women  stranded.


Market women from places to who traded in fruits and vegetables as said they brought goods to be sold to their customers in the market but realized the market is one day ultimatum to be  closed down.


They said they were unaware of the situation so they set off early to get to Dodowa Market to trade in order to return back before dusk.

 "Our fruits and vegetables to deliver to customers in the market but realized the market is to  closed and now we cannot sell"


They said they already maintain the SOCIAL DISTANCING in the market and did not know why the market is to closed by the District Chief Executive Officer.

POOR INFRASTRUCTURE A MAJOR PROBLEM AT OKRA AGYEI D/A BASIC SCHOOL

Residents of Okraa Agyei, a community within the Kwahu South District in the Eastern Region are calling on the Government, to come to their aid and provide them with classroom blocks and learning materials for Okraa Agyei D/A primary school.
With the population of over 300 pupils, the school can only boast of three mud unit classroom block which was built for children in nursery and kindergarten.

The bad condition of the classroom compels teachers to hold classes in budges in uncompleted mud structures and there are no lessons during raining season because there are no shelters.


The students complained of teaching and learning materials and ICT equipments to be used by the teachers to teach them.
Most of the teachers in the school say poor condition of the building and broken furniture’s makes students uncomfortable during classes hours and contributes to the high rate of absenteeism as well as low performance in exams and poor academic achievement.

In addition to this, the school cannot boast of library, ICT laboratory and equipment’s, and teachers bungalow resulting in academic performance falling at an increasing rate over years.
Some students and teachers took to their heels to build a two mud classroom block for nursery and KG1.


“The classroom block used by class 5 students was rented from the church in the community” they added.

The cure for COVID-19 is a direction from God - Prophet Francis Kwarteng.

THE CURE FOR COVID-19 IS A DIRECTION FROM GOD - PROPHET FRANCIS KWARTENG.

The Founder and Leader of House of Power Ministry International on Tuesday 31st December, 2019 during the watch night service prophesied about this trending Covid-19 which has been labelled Pandemic by the WOLRD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) and its implication on human race.

"This is a direction from God and a vaccine to the disease", he added.

Prophet Francis Kwarteng on Sunday 12th April, 2020 on Elijah Television disclosed God's intention on how God is about to save his people, specifically Ghanaians who are willing to humble themselves and heed to the divine direction from God.

" This is no joke, neither should anyone make mockery about it so as to not incur curses upon oneself", he warned.

The Prophet of God advised that, any person who believe otherwise other than what God has told him should restrain him or herself but to this who will believe with humility and obey to practice will be save from this pandemic.

The direction will be telecasted this Sunday 19th April, 2020 on Elijah television at 10:00am.

"Not only will the direction cure those who have been affected with Covid-19, it will equally serve as a breakthrough to all who are suffering from other disease", he stated.

Prophet Kwarteng stated emphatically that, it is his prayer and heart desire that the nation heeds his words and participate in this divine direction so that Ghanaians will be saved by Almighty God from this Covid-19 pandemic.
